Vintage Wooden Tribal Mortar
Our Vintage wooden tribal mortar bowls were once used to pound grains or spices for culinary use.
Each primitive bowl is around 90 years old and was hewn using hand tools only from a single elm tree trunk. There are no joints in the timber and the beautiful makers marks are visible on the surface of each bowl.
These mortars are reasurringly heavy and robust with amazingly thick walls.
We think they make wonderful planters or fruit bowls but could equally be filled with treasured items found on a beach or forest walk.
