Vintage bamboo fishing trap lantern - listing is for one lantern

We found a small collection of these beautifully hand crafted very large lantens on our travels in Indonesia.  They are from Kalimantan Island.

Also know as Susug.  They are wonderfully weathered with a lovely gray patina.  Every part is made from Bamboo making them strong and durable.   Bamboo is light but very strong.

There are historic blemishes to each individual one with signs of use.  The odd piece of bamboo is missing from these lovely traditionally made items.  Do not expect new condition, these items have been used for angling. 

The would have been pushed deep into sand or shale to allow fish to be held in rivers or shallow sea water. 

They look fabulous over a large pillar candle or could be suspended using twine or rope from the ceiling to make a pendant lamp in a room with a lovely high ceiling.  Whichever way you choose to use them they will make a real statement in any interior design scheme. 

Expertly hand woven to the top with steamed and then interwoven green bamboo splices.

Each one mesures 70cm high and has a diameter of 36cm - This is a large item
