Moroccan Tamegroute Glaze Pottery Vase
Moroccan Tamegroute Glaze Pottery Vase
This iconic item is instantly recognisable as a classic Moroccan design and colour.
These very special items are ideal for display as a piece of art or as a fruit bowl or serving bowl.
Made in Morocco in the village of Tamegroute this range is characterised by its distinctive irregular green glaze.
Found close to Tamegroute is a riverbank source for the clay used in this historic pottery. Each piece is hand-thrown and shaped then fired in one of the village kilns using wood fire. The glaze is hand-mixed from locally sourced minerals like copper oxide to achieve a distinctive green colour.
Your chosen item will be a unique piece of art as no two items are ever the same in size or glaze finish. The glazing process is very organic, and the colour varies from item to item. It is perfectly normal for there to be many areas of 'imperfection' across the surfaces of the bowl.
There are areas where the glaze is missing for example and there are pitted marks which are dull and unglazed as well as raised particles within the glaze. It is not possible to create matching sets by colour.
Colour varies from dark green to pale green and ochre-green.
The charm of these items is their very primitive nature - please expect areas to be rough to the touch irregular surfaces.
A piece will be picked at random for you if you order online. We are sorry but unless you visit our store in Marlow SL7 3RR you will be unable to personally choose your unique piece. These items are packed ready for disptach and we are not able to provide individual images. Each one is pot luck and each one is perfectly gorgeous.
