These 18th-century antique ceramic Chinese wine flagons feature a rustic patina and a commanding design that offers a unique decorative impact. Handcrafted with visible molding marks, they reflect traditional craftsmanship. Each stoneware pot was hand made using a coil of clay.
Originating from the Northern Shanxi Province of ancient China, an area historically known for producing rich, aromatic dark vinegar, these glazed pottery jars were once used to store valuable liquids such as wine. Valuable wines were often gifted on important days such as weddings inside such pots.
Their striking black glazed patina and rustic character now serve as compelling design accents, adding depth and contrast to any interior.
Dating from around 1800, they remain in good antique condition. This pots are very difficult to source and are in limited supply.
